Careers FAQs

Our Recruitment Process

What is the standard RBA recruitment process?

The recruitment process varies for each role. Typically our RBA Talent Acquisition Consultants will review your application and CV against the key criteria of the role you've applied for. If you meet this criteria you'll be contacted to complete a phone screen to determine suitability to the role. Depending on the phone screen outcome, you will then be asked to attend a series of interviews to assess your experience, achievements, knowledge and cultural fit.

If you're successful for the role, you'll need to complete certain background and reference checks prior to receiving a verbal offer from the Talent Acquisition team.

I've submitted my application for a role online via Page Up. When will I hear from you?

When you've submitted your online application you'll receive an automated email confirming that we've received your application. Our Talent Acquisition team will then contact you to inform you if your application is successful to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process. Or you will be notified by email if you have been unsuccessful in the initial stages for a particular role.

If you don't receive a confirmation email of your application after your application has been submitted, please check any other email folders, in particular your junk email folder.

Submitting your Application

How do I apply for a position I have seen advertised?

All candidates need to submit their application online via the RBA careers website. You will either need to log in to your account or create a new account with a valid email address and password if this is your first application. If it is your first application to a job with the RBA – welcome and good luck!

Will late applications be accepted?

Please submit your application by the advertised closing date and time, as any late applications for an advertised vacancy will not be able to be processed online and therefore may not be accepted.

I've submitted my application for a specific role, can I upload a new resume?

No, not for the specific role you have applied to. If you wish to discuss the resume you submitted for an existing application/vacancy please contact the Talent Acquisition team.

I'm having trouble with my application. What do I do?

Please call HR Service Desk (via the RBA public enquiry switch board) on 02 9551 9830 and a member of our team can help you and advise you of the next steps.

Should I write a cover letter to go with my CV?

A cover letter can be good for providing some extra information beyond what's on your resume, however it's not compulsory. In some cases it is good to outline why you want to work for the RBA, why your interest in the role you are applying to, and what you would bring to a role that aligns to the role criteria. It is entirely up to you!

I'm interested in more than one position. Should I apply for them all?

Yes, you can apply for more than one position with the RBA – just check that you meet the eligibility criteria for each job that you apply for, and that it is in line with your career aspirations.

I've changed my mind and would like to withdraw my application online. Will this show on your system and will this work against me in future?

Your profile will show that you've withdrawn your application. This won't affect any future applications you submit to us.

Where can I find the application closing date?

The application closing date can be found at the bottom of the job advertisement.

How can I check on the status of my application?

You can check the status of your application by logging in to your applicant portal via the RBA careers website, and you'll be able to view the status of your current application.

I saw a job on the website a few weeks ago but I can't find it anymore – where has it gone? I'd like to submit an application.

If a job advertisement no longer appears on the website, it means the role is either at the interview stage of the process and we are no longer accepting anymore applications, or the role has been filled by a successful applicant and the job is now closed. You can set up a job alert for future roles to let you know when new opportunities become available. Simply click on the Job Alerts button on the RBA Careers page and select Subscribe to Jobs.

I applied a filter on the job search page, but no results are showing up. Why is that?

The system will share back roles that meet the category of the filter you have selected. If there is no role which meets the category you've selected (e.g. you have selected location ‘Brisbane’ and we have no roles currently available in Brisbane), then no results will show. We would suggest that you try to broaden your search to show more results.

I can't see any vacancies that I am interested in at the moment. Can I send my resume somewhere to be considered for future roles coming up?

If you can't find the right role advertised now, it is likely that new roles will become available soon. Our advice is to set up a job alert on the RBA Careers page so you can be notified when the right opportunity comes up that matches your skill set. Simply click on the Job Alerts button and select Subscribe to Jobs. Please note that your job alert will automatically expire after 90 days if you do not choose to extend your subscription.

  1. Log in to your RBA Careers page or create a new account.
  2. Then simply click on the Job Alerts button on the RBA Careers page and select Subscribe to Jobs.
