Research

Research is an essential part of what we do. It informs the monetary policy process, deepens our understanding of the operation of financial markets, helps us understand the life of banknotes and more. Our people are encouraged to publish the findings of their research in Research Discussion Papers, to stimulate comment and discussion. These papers cover a wide range of issues related to monetary policy, financial stability, financial markets, banknotes and payments. We encourage our people to design their own projects and to engage with the broader research community.

We also have a dedicated Research Department. In addition to producing research, the Department organises a major annual Conference as well as an annual Research Workshop. It also organises a program of internal seminars, hosts academic guests as well as visitors from other central banks and policy institutions, and is responsible for administering a comprehensive library service for the Reserve Bank. The Department is headed by John Simon.
